Method for configuring a virtual disk drive of a computer after completion of a power on self-test (POST) routine. According to the method a floppy disk is configured in a CMOS BIOS expansion in flash memory. The original floppy drive is assigned a different name, i.e. disk drive letter. The method includes a step in which the flash memory capacity is checked.
