The car rear seat (10) has a back rest made up of upper (12A) and lower (12B) sections which can be swiveled forward over the seat section (14) to form a table. A panel (16) swivels on the same axis as the upper section and can be use dot cover the seat back or to cover the boot, forming a level surface with the back when it is swiveled forward.
