The fuel injector (10) is connected to the common rail system by an L-shaped connector body (14) at the top. The connector body has a profiled connection face (26) with a circular groove (23) accommodating a circular rib (22) on the top of the injector body, and welded in place (28). The projection on top of the fuel injector has a conical sealing surface (27). A blind bore (17) in the horizontal portion of the L-shaped connector body (15) runs into a blind bore (18) in the vertical portion of the L-shaped connector body (16). A screw cap (20) fits onto the threaded end (21) of the horizontal portion.
