The method for filling or making a storage facility for green fodder comprises compressing it in a press system (5) and passing it through a molding unit (8) to form a continuous strand. A cover sheet is then unwound from a feed roll (12) and fitted over it. The novelty is that the unwound sheet is folded back on itself as it is unwound and can be fitted over and under the strand. An Independent claim is included for a machine for carrying out the method.
