The method comprises forming a cross-section profile of a strand component (10) by using a molding tool, and producing several axially equidistantly spaced contour elements in an outer wall (12) of the strand component during the forming step, where the contour element is produced with an undercut only over the partial lengths of the strand component. An embossing tool or a rolling tool and/or a machining tool are used for producing the contour element. The strand component is molded with the plastic in the area of the contour elements. An independent claim is included for a strand component.
