The turning device has two grippers (4) mounted to pivot about a common axis (10) and move between the supply point (14) and the stacking point (15) in common and contra work beats so that each one of the grippers stops its swivel movement over the supply point whilst the other stops its swivel movement over the stacking point. The gripping and release positions are reached through a movement perpendicular to the swivel plane. The swivel movements of the two grippers can be controlled in sequence in opposite directions on a semi-circular path.
