The inner surface of a stainless steel tank involves inserting a tube into the tank, placing a cathode and electrolyte in the tank and connecting the tube and cathode. Production of an inner surface of a stainless steel tank comprises: inserting a tube into the tank along a longitudinal axis; arranging a cathode inside the tank and hanging on the tube in such a way that an insulated rigid connection is formed between the tube and the cathode; placing an electrolyte inside the tank so that the cathode is partially immersed in the electrolyte; connecting the tube and the tank to a current source so that the tank is connected as the anode and electrochemically polishing the inner surface of the tank; and rotating the tank about its longitudinal axis at a speed required to electrochemically polish the whole surface of the tank.
