The gear pump, and especially for an extruder with two screw shafts, has two meshing herringbone cogwheels where material is advanced between them. The pump is within a housing of two half-sections. Disk members are centered at the cogwheels, matching their diameter, with cylindrical surfaces to roll against each other at a mean height between the peaks of the herringbone teeth and the gaps between them. The gear pump (1), and especially for an extruder with two screw shafts (2,3), has two meshing herringbone cogwheels (7,8) where material is advanced between them. The pump is within a housing (4) of two half-sections (5,6). Disk members (9,10) are centered at the cogwheels, matching their diameter, with cylindrical surfaces to roll against each other at a mean height between the peaks of the herringbone teeth and the gaps between them. Counter units lie at the disk members, to support the screw shafts against a start pressure.
