The cover (1) for a vehicle consists of a supporting structure (2) upon which are fitted an outer skin (3) and functional components. The supporting structure is assembled in modular fashion from supports (6-11), and the fastening of the outer skin and/or at least one functional component to the supporting structure is effected through at least one functional support. A functional unit may be a hinge, lock, sealing strip, push-on flange for a seal, an underlining surface or suchlike. The functional support simultaneously acts a junction for the connection of two supports of the supporting structure.
