To regenerate cooked materials, e.g. foods and the like, they are placed in an oven together with a suitable vessel such as a cooking pot or plate or a rack frame/trolley and/or at least one reference body incorporating a sensor linked to the oven control. The interior of the oven is sprayed with water at a temperature of =100[deg]C at least at the start of the regeneration, and the oven is heated to a temperature of =100[deg]C. The water mist spray saturates the materials at least partially. The oven uses a dry heat so that condensation does not form on the surfaces, and a moisture can be introduced at the end of the process.
