The clamping tool on a slide (31) for a pipeline branch saddle, to be welded in place in the plastics pipe (7) with a pipe connection (1) and a saddle surface (2), has a sprung pressure plate (8) of a spring metal. A draw plate (9) is linked to the pressure plate through springs (11,12). A draw rod is attached to the draw plate, supported at the outer side of the pipe. A pressure ring (17), of a heat-resistant material, is on the upper side of the pressure plate. A heating coil (3) is embedded in the saddle surface, with power supply contacts for the welding action.
