Surface modification to reduce adsorption of proteins, cells, bacteria and/or viruses involves use of dendritic or hyper-branched polymers, e.g. organosulfur- bonded polyglycerols
Surfaces are modified by dendritic or hyper-branched polymers of branching degree 10-100 (especially 50-100)%, the polymers being such that they: (a) include repeat or branched units of glycerol-derived ethers or etheralcohols and/or carbonate, ester, imine, amide, urethane and/or ethersulfone comonomer units; and (b) can reduce the adsorption of proteins, cells, bacteria and/or viruses.
