The wall structure for the body of a vehicle consists of a frame construction, upon which is installed an outer skin, and an inner wall element. A free hanging protective inlay (9) consisting of a flat form fiber element formed from tear-resistant and split-resistant fibers is provided in a cavity (8) between the outer skin (3) and inner face (14) of the inner wall element (7). The protective inlay in its dimensions corresponds to those of a vertical section of the inner wall element.
