Device for measuring the filling level of a fuel tank, especially a motor vehicle fuel tank that has two openings for insertion of a filling tube (4) and a pump unit. A film sensor (7) has an electrical connection cable (8) that is connected via the pump unit (5) to a display unit. The film sensor is contained with a protection tube (10) that has openings to allow fuel entry and that is displaced sideways from the filling opening. The protection tube and filling opening are inserted via the same opening into the fuel tank.
