The assembly has fuser (12) and pressure (14) rollers associated in nip relation. The pressure roller includes a base cushion (24) applied to a rigid core (26) to provide uniform drive speed through the nip across the roller. The rigid core is in a form of an hourglass or smile. Difference in diameter from ends of the core (26) to a center of the pressure roller is ranged from 0.5 millimeter to 4.0 millimeter.
