Shim plate positioning method for magnetic resonance scanner, involves using magnetoresistive magnet simulator at installation site and measuring local magnetic fields to determine the desired shim characteristics and positioning
A superconducting magnet simulator is positioned at the installation site and is momentarily stimulated by the magnetic field of the magnetic resonance (MR) scanner. Magnetic field probes measure the local field to determine the insulation characteristics and reaction on the magnet. From these measurements, the necessary shim characteristics and positioning can be planned. An independent claim is included for a device for carrying out the shim plate positioning method.
