The device has a base frame, an upper chamber unit, a lower chamber unit on the base frame for selective connection to the upper unit, an upper chamber adjustment unit, panels on the upper and lower chamber units, a sealing device on a surface of one chamber unit, a first alignment device for leveling the upper panel relative to the lower panel and a second alignment device for horizontal alignment of the upper panel relative to the lower one. The device has a base frame (100), an upper chamber unit (210), a lower chamber unit (220) mounted on the base frame and for selective connection to the upper chamber unit, an upper chamber adjustment unit, upper (230) and lower (240) panels on the upper and lower chamber units, a sealing device on a surface of one chamber unit, a first alignment device for leveling the upper panel relative to the lower panel and a second alignment device for horizontal alignment of the upper panel relative to the lower one. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a method of leveling panels in an inventive device (b) a method of operating a liquid crystal display (c) a device for manufacturing liquid crystal displays (d) and a method of loading wafers into a wafer joining device.
