The sheet printer has a sheet feed brake to slow the sheets from a working speed to a laying speed. It has a conveyor to feed the finished sheets slowly and release them at the retarded side of the brake. One of the brakes (3,7) can move an adjustable catcher (3.10) periodically between first and second positions. The catcher takes in an individual sheet (22.2) on movement from the first to the second position. In the second position, the brake contacts each sheet.
