Book trimmer scores edge of book using laser after which book is conveyed to trimming station for trimming at score

The laser scoring station/device produces a score by scoring an edge of the book using lasers (40,42) e.g. carbon dioxide laser. A conveyor (12) conveys the scored book to the trimming station (10) for trimming at the score. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) method for trimming book; and (2) laser scoring station.
