The system has a position sensitive detector (PSD) (50) supported by pelvis (64). A controller (66) is electrically connected to light source (58) supported by movable ball of the ball joint (52) to emit light, and electrically connected to position sensitive detector that receives the emitted light to measure the two angles between the ball and the pelvis. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) hip joint measurement system; (2) ankle joint measurement system; and (3) crash test dummy.
