A hydrogen separation apparatus has a hydrogen separation component selectively permeating hydrogen from hydrogen-containing gas supplied from a first surface (I) to a second surface (II), a gas supply portion for supplying hydrogen-containing gas to the first surface (I), a gas passageway for conveying gas for conveying hydrogen permeated from the second surface (II) to the exterior of the hydrogen separation apparatus, and a supply portion for supplying cathode off-gas from a cathode to the gas passageway.
