A hydrogen separation apparatus (50) has a hydrogen separation component (53) selectively permeating hydrogen from one surface (I) to a second surface (II), a gas supply portion for supplying hydrogen-containing gas to the first surface (I), a gas passageway for conveying gas for conveying hydrogen, and a supply portion for supplying cathode off-gas from a cathode to the gas passageway. The supply portion vicinity has good heat resistance. A hydrogen separation apparatus has a hydrogen separation component selectively permeating hydrogen from hydrogen-containing gas supplied from a first surface (I) to a second surface (II), a gas supply portion for supplying hydrogen-containing gas to the first surface (I), a gas passageway for conveying gas for conveying hydrogen permeated from the second surface (II) to the exterior of the hydrogen separation apparatus, and a supply portion for supplying cathode off-gas from a cathode to the gas passageway. The supply portion vicinity of the gas separation component has good heat resistance. The hydrogen separation apparatus extracts hydrogen from hydrogen-containing gas and supplies hydrogen to the anode of a fuel cell having a cathode supplied with oxygen for generating electric power.
