The field equipment has a display with a display controller that receives two process data signals (PD1,PD2), one of which is derived from an external signal (RX), and delivers a status display signal (ZA) representing a constellation of signal states of the process signals. A display part (AE) provides a visual indication of a constellation of the signal states of the two process data signals. The display part reacts to a change in the status display signal by significantly changing its appearance.
