A drinking fountain is connected to the main water supply and has an integral self cleaning programme. The programme operates at preset intervals and isolates the system, pumps remaining water out of all the pipes, generates steam to blow through the pipes and finishes by rinsing in cold water. The cleaning system generates steam at 120 degrees C and cleans all the system including carbonizing and chilling systems. The disinfection process is carried out by a microcontroller and access to the fountain is blocked during the cleaning cycle, including the dispensing points.
