The roof safety device has a safety hook manufactured from sheet metal and consisting of a fixing member (6) and a hook component (7). The hook component with an adjacent edge section (17) of the fixing member is angled along a longitudinal edge of the fixing member which in the region of the hook component has a smaller width than in the adjacent fastening section (11). The angled edge section extends up to the wider fastening section of the fixing member. The angled edge section in its widened foot section (8) projecting from the fixing member has a through-hole (9) for the fitting of a safety device.
