A method for fitting a motorcycle rear axle into the rear frame, without any removable trim fittings, has a recess in the rear frame fitted with slot to take a threaded fasteners, and with the head of the fastener inside the recess. An inner recess holds a clamping block drilled to take the threaded fastener, and is secured by a cover plate with a similar slot as the outer recess. The axle is located through the slots and the block and is secured by the threaded fastener. The drive chain tension is easily adjusted simply by loosening the threaded fasteners each side of the rear frame and sliding to a new position using spindle drives.
