A method for mounting a post crane onto a concrete base without excavating the concrete for a securing anchor has a wide adaptor plate (6) fitted under the mounting plate (4) at the bottom of the post (1). The adaptor plate is circular and is secured to the mounting plate by threaded fasteners or by welding. The circular plate has a number of recessed holes around the periphery to take spreader bolts to fix the plate to the concrete base. The plate is rotated into the optimum position before boring the fitting holes, e.g. to position the holes w.r.t. grooves etc. in the concrete. The depth of the recess is sufficient to hide the securing nuts and spring washers. The holes can be fitted with cover inserts. The post supports a pivot mounted horizontal jib (2) holding a rolling hoist (3).
