The device for the creating of a movement of air is by means of at least one fan (1) which is set in back and forth motion by a drive motor (2), a drive linkage (3) and a coupling mechanism (4). The drive motor is constructed in such a way that the drive linkage executes a back and forth linear movement, and the coupling mechanism converts the linear movement into a swinging movement. The coupling mechanism comprises a holder with a pivot-mounted rocker which on one side is connected to the fan and on the other side is in functional communication with the drive linkage.
