The recessed lamp has a housing (14) with a front opening enclosed by a peripheral flange (16), provided with a frame (17) for reception of a front lamp glass (20), at least the peripheral flange and frame parts of the housing being transparent so that they are internally illuminated, e.g. via light-emitting diodes contained in an intermediate space (26) between the inside surface of the housing and a central light dispersion disc (18) at the rear of the front lamp glass.
