An eddy current braking device includes an adjustment element for operating an adjustable magnetic pole (5) and thus for adjusting the braking torque acting on the braking disc (3). The adjustable magnetic pole (3) of electromagnets are connected to a supply coupled to a regulating unit (8). A calibrating element is provided for exactly determining the adjusted braking torque and can be selectively activated.
