A wireless LAN (Local Area Network) hot spot location system has small transmit receiver units that regularly test whether the unit is in a WLAN coverage area and show this by LED (Light Emitting Diode) or signal strength displays and have GPS (Global Positioning System) receivers to locate the next WLAN. Independent claims are included for the construction of the transmit receive units as ball point pens, lighters, mobile phones, watches, jewelry and spectacles or in miniature form in clothing and textiles.
