A hand protector for fitness training has a shaped pad with a central section (4) which fits over the pal and ball of the hand as well as providing a padded grip for the fingers. One side of the pad has a thumb hole (1). Two side tags are fitted with press fit fasteners (2) to secure over the back of the hand with adjustment for fit. The pad can be made of any suitable material, neoprene, leather, multi layer textile etc. with optional inner padding.
