The fastening device for the flexible installation of fences, screen walls and suchlike has a rail (1) rigidly connected to the ground and in which at least one and preferably several holding elements (2) for support posts (12) are accommodated, whereby adjusting elements (14) are provided for the detachable fastening of the holding elements in any optional position along the rail. The rail has a horizontal baseplate (3) with vertical side members (4) at the ends with inwards pointing shoulders (5) extending parallel to the baseplate. Independent claims are also included for the following: (a) a fence or screen wall with support posts held in a fastening device; and (b) a holding element for the proposed fastening device.
