A cutter for preparing food cubes, e.g. cheese cubes, has a reciprocal action slider moving vertically to cut a slice from the front of a horizontally fed block and press it into an array of parallel vertical blades. The blades are secured at the upper ends with their bottom ends free and spaced from a tilting support. The cut slice is pressed into the vertical cutters in one cycle of the vertical cutter, and is further pressed through the horizontal cutters by the following cycle.
