A cutter for preparing food cubes, e.g. cheese cubes, has a vertically reciprocating blade cutting slices off the front of a block and pressing through a cutting grid. The cut slices are supported on a tilting system which transfers the slices from the conveyor feed to the grid and prevents food cuttings from falling out of the bottom of the cutter. The tilting system can be fitted with an endless belt cover which moves at about the same rate as the main transport system.
