Motor vehicle roof with noise reduction system formed by rail of vertical ribs located on rear edge of foamed section under roof lid

The vehicle has a glass lid (12) with moveable rear edge (14), and devices to reduce the noise of an air flow in a ventilation channel (28). These are located on the underside of the lid and consist of vertical ribs on the rear edge of a material section (20), e.g. a foamed section, formed on a lid stiffening structure (22). The ribs form a material rail, which is structured to vary the local flow resistance caused by the rail dependent upon a position right angles to the cross direction of the vehicle. A water drain (30) at the back of the roof opening (26) is partially formed by a seal, with a seal section projecting into the ventilation channel to form additional means to alter the air flow.
