Sealing and insulating system for buildings comprises a profile element for inserting in the region of a brickwork opening, e.g. a window or door, and a flat sealing and insulating device connected to the profile element for attaching to the brickwork. The profile element and the sealing and insulating device have socket or catch elements for mutual connection. The profile element is integrated in the structural components and/or designed as a molded part, especially as a structural add-on piece, and is tightly connected to the structural components. The profile elements are designed and fitted together so that a tight holder for the sealing and insulating device is produced around the brickwork opening. Preferred Features: The profile element has devices (5, 6) for receiving flat sealing and insulating devices so that at least two sealing and insulating devices can be attached to the profile element either in parallel or perpendicular to each other. The devices are designed so that at least one plaster layer or insulating material can be arranged between two sealing and insulating devices arranged on the profile element.
