A method for registering a character pattern in a user specific lexicon and character recognition apparatus with this lexicon

PURPOSE: To reduce or eliminate the error for rewrite of a user dictionary with respect to the picture recognition device which takes a character pattern as the input to recognize the character pattern as a character. ;CONSTITUTION: Handwriting information of an inputted character is subjected to recognition processing, and a reliability as a standard feature pattern of this character is obtained in accordance with the degree of correctness of the recognition resu and if the reliability is low, a warning is outputted, and the user selects whether it should be registered in the user dictionary or not in response to the warning. When he selects registration to the user dictionary, information indicating that the reliability is low is registered together with handwriting information. Characters whose reliabilities are low are displayed in distinction from the other characters when characters registered in the user dictionary are displayed. A user name index file where handwriting information which is inputted from a coordinate input part and is peculiar to the user is stored and a password input discriminating part which determines permission of access to the user dictionary by inputted peculiar handwriting information are provided.;COPYRIGHT: (C)1995,JPO
