In order to recover the hydrogen in a gaseous effluent rich in hydrocarbons, it implements a process which comprises: - a step (a) in which it causes a gaseous effluent rich in hydrocarbons in contact with the upstream face of a selective membrane to the hydrogen, at a pressure p1; - a step (b), in which circulates a stream containing one or more compound (s) of the unsaturated (s) in contact with the downstream face of said membrane, at a pressure p2 is lower than p1, and in the presence of a catalyst, so as to be at least in part, the said (or these) compound (s) of the unsaturated (s) by means of at least a portion of the hydrogen passing by permeation of said upstream face to the downstream face of the said selective membrane; - a step (c) in which it conveys the flow containing the (or) compound (s) of hydrogenated (s) in step (b). the method may further include a step (d) in which a dehydrogenation reaction of the (or) compound (s) of hydrogenated (s) being transported to the step (c), so as to recover at least a portion of the hydrogen consumed by the hydrogenation step (b).
