Isolated proteins (A) that contain either of two specified sequences. Isolated proteins (A) that contain either of the sequences Arg-Glu-Ala-Leu-Ala-Met-Asp-Pro-Gln-Gln-X1-Leu-X2-Glu-X3-X4-Tyr-Glu (41) or Thr-Xa-Phe-Val-Glu-Xb-His-Gly-Thr-Gly-Thr-Gln-Xc-Gly-Asp (43) X1 = Leu, Val, Met or Ile; X2 = Leu or Met; X3 = Ala or Thr; X4 = Val or Ala; Xa = Asp or Ala; Xb = Cys or Ala; and Xc = Phe or Leu. Independent claims are also included for: (1) a nucleic acid (B) that encodes (A); (2) primers for amplifying (B) containing 18-25 consecutive bases from (B); (3) a method for detecting fungi that produce ochratoxin A or citrinine by detecting (B); and (4) a DNA chip having at least one (B) on its surface.
