Manufacture of articles by rapid prototyping using a paste composition comprising a mixture of ceramic powder, photopolymerizable resin, a photoinitiator, a dispersant and optional adjuvants in which the composition also contains a plasticizer to eliminate or minimize the generation of stresses during polymerization which may lead to fissuring of the article during fritting and the paste composition itself. A method of manufacture of articles by rapid prototyping (stereophotolithography) using a paste composition comprising a mixture of ceramic powder, photopolymerizable resin, a photoinitiator, a dispersant and optional adjuvants in which the composition also contains a plasticizer to eliminate or minimize the generation of stresses during polymerization which may lead to fissuring of the article during fritting and the paste composition itself. The paste contains a sufficient proportion of ceramic powder that the composition has a viscosity of at least 10000 Pa.s and a flow speed of 0.1 sec-1 such that it is self-bearing and that the unpolymerized parts of a layer can support the next layer.
