The cloth (1) is hung on a frame (2) from one of its edges (1a) to a length corresponding with the width between edges (1a, 1b). The free end of the other edge (1b) is taken and folded at an angle, hanging it up opposite, to form a diagonal fold (P1). This is repeated over the whole length of the cloth. The frame is immersed with the cloth to different depths in one or more baths of various dyes. It is dyed and passed to the frame. The free end (P2) of the fold formed (P1) is folded back at an angle and hung opposite, such that a point (P3) is formed. Over part or all of such points, dyeing is held back, especially by knots.
