The method of equipment control device has transmitter commands and receiver commands monitoring the equipment (15). Commands are sent from the transmitter (20) to the receiver (10) with information concerning ergonomic features available on the command transmitter. Then a memory (16) is selected from the command receiver and a previously placed list corresponding to ergonomic features of the command transmitter established allowing the ergonomics of the command transmitter to be translated into command executable by the equipment.
