The fire fighting device includes a reservoir that is filled with high pressure, very low temperature liquid nitrogen. The reservoir is connected via by-pass and supply valves to spray nozzles disposed along the tunnel. The liquid nitrogen is sprayed onto the fire, causing the nitrogen to be vaporized and absorb the energy contained in the fire. The reservoir and nozzles can alternatively be mounted on a vehicle to provide a mobile fire-fighting vehicle for extinguishing other types of fire.
