A torque wrench has two measurement bridges at separate locations (B, B) each having four active strain gauges measuring bending moments (M1, M2) and connected to signal conditioners (A1, A2) for an A/D converter (8) input to a microprocessor (9) that processes the values received using a linear correction algorithm and coefficients determined by calibration against a known torque reference that is connected through a third signal conditioner (A3).
