Device for determining the volume of liquid in a tank comprises two cables mounted in parallel, on the outside of the tank, along which a level indicator moves. A graduation scale is associated with the cables. The level is connected by a pulley system to a float that moves up and down with the liquid level. The level indicator thus acts as a counter-weight.
