2-Thiohydantoin derivatives (I) are new. 2-Thiohydantoin derivatives (I) and their acid addition salts, are new. R1, R2 = 1-5C alkyl, 3-4C alkenyl, 2-3C hydroxyalkyl or its precursor, 3-5C alkoxyalkyl or (CH2)p-Ar; p = 0 or 1; Ar = phenyl or pyridinyl (both optionally substituted by at least one halo, OH, NO2, CN, 1-3C alkoxy, carboxy, 1-4C alkoxycarbonyl, methylthio, methylenedioxy or a group of formula (i)); X = CH or N; R5 = H, halo, 1-3C alkoxy or OH, and R3, R4 = H or 1-4C alkyl, provided that at least one of R1 and R2 contains two aromatic rings (phenyl or pyridinyl). An Independent claim is also included for the preparation of (I).
