The method involves periodically deviating a laser beam inside a cone of collimation along a diameter turning around a line of collimation (11). A receiver (33) is integrated into a moving object to generate correction values for the guidance of the object along a line of collimation from released signals through the beam. Some diameters (52, 55) of scanning are traversed during a cycle from the side of the receiver. An Independent claim is also included for an apparatus guiding a moving object e.g. missile along a line of collimation.
