The cover (14) for covering the opening (16) of a central console (10) is rotatable about an axis (15) while also being translatable via a sliding arrangement (28,30). The sliding arrangement enables the cover to be moved from a closed position to a position enabling rotation of the cover to a stable open position, where the cover slides vertically downwards against the rear face of the console. An Independent claim is included for a motor vehicle console including the above cover.
