The device has a hydraulic jack maintaining unit constituted by a spacer (4, 5) arranged in a cylinder (3) between a piston (1) and an end of the cylinder. The spacer forming a bump at an extension position of a hydraulic jack is displaced between extension and contraction positions of the jack. The positions define respective maximal extension lengths for the device. An Independent claim is also included for a vehicle.
