The device is partly electrical and partly mechanical, and during an accident the collision sensors are triggered to change the state of the relay. When two push buttons are urgently pressed, a closed loop is formed allowing the change of state of the relay. This feeds current to an electric motor M, which, by means of a gear assembly drives the gear wheel (1) which is fixed to the shaft (16) of the gear assembly. The gear wheel is off-center w.r.t the axis of the shaft of the gear, this allowing a translation movement of the piece (3) which frees the spring (4), this latter projecting the piece (5) which pierces the piece (6), which has the effect of lifting the point (7) which pieces the operculum (8) of the gas reservoir, which in turn inflates the airbag.
